More, more, more.....

First of all, I owe Mrs. Johnson, well, Amy Hall to many readers, a HUGE shoutout because I think a lot of my traffic is thanks to a link on her blog. So, THANKS! Leave a comment/message sometime so I can get to know you!
The kitchen is now painted, though you can't really tell the color in these photos. But, the painter, eh hem (you know who), thought the kitchen could use even more of an update, so I got a project forced on me. I will admit the new curtains in the living room made quite a statement all on their own, so I was hoping these would have a similar effect. I like them, I love the fabric and having more color on the walls, but this was quite an ordeal. The gathering: about an 1 hour and 20 minute trip total to and from the store. The layout and sewing: about 7.5 hours total. The cleanup: about an hour of rinsing, applying pressure, then a bandaid, then a new one about every 5 minutes since I kept bleeding through each one. That was putting my finger back together after it got sewn over because I was not only trying to sew more layers than my machine wanted to, so I was assisting the feed dogs, taking my chances in very bad lighting. I lost, my finger has been throbbing ever since.

These look the same, I realize, but they're actually different. You see, one set faces the back of the house, and the other faces the driveway. Unfortunately, the bedroom needs new window treatments, probably some more curtains like these , because I tried to wash the current ones and ruined them. But, my poor little machine has just about had it. So, we'll see what the budget allows, especially since I have my eye on a new pair of running shoes and I'm training for an April race.

  1. Love the curtains! But your poor finger...ouch! Makes me cringe just thinking about it...hope you are on the mend. And hope that a new toy is in your budget soon!
